HIPOBAT is a Franco-German research project focusing on high-power solid-state batteries (SSB). The development of high-power SSB will enable:

• fast charging
• long lifetime
• high energy density

The HIPOBAT project will consider both lithium and sodium chemistries.

Lithium and Sodium ion batteries with liquid electrolyte (LIB, SIB) will be considered as benchmarks compared to the newly developed cell concepts (solid-state lithium and sodium).

Next to cutting-edge scientific advances in the field of high-power batteries, the HIPOBAT project will establish an exchange program for early career researchers to promote the mobility between France and Germany, thus strengthening the Franco-German relationships in battery science.
